We are currently looking for a professionally skilled Business Development Manager to join our team.
You are a professional extrovert who loves both data and engaging with prospective clients who can benefit from our DataOrbis service offering. You are a confident and fearless seller, can expertly communicate a compelling vision, and are happiest when finding, chasing and pitching to clients to seal the deal.
You have an in-depth knowledge of the FMCG and Retailer landscape, as well as an understanding of the critical importance that distribution, brand, and category management plays in the industry. You are at ease when professionally engaging with the key players in the industry, can present with confidence as well as facilitate meetings effectively. You are comfortable with, and enjoy travel, and have no problem spending time on the road and in the air.
You are a good administrator and a skilled relationship builder, and can negotiate and think on your feet. You easily identify opportunities and continuously ensure that potential clients recognise the added value that our service offering brings.
You love and see the value in data, are not afraid of numbers or technology and have “stickabiltiy” when it comes to embarking on a steep learning curve in order to fully understand our DataOrbis platform, processes and service offerings. You are interpersonally skilled and highly experienced when it comes to growing the client portfolio in various regions.
You enjoy working within a team-based environment and are positive, proactive and enjoy getting stuck in where needed. You can engage professionally with and build rapport with internal team members to ensure that proposals are developed and timeously sent, as well as ensure that upon their successful signing that contracts are integrated into the team for ongoing management. You will be supported by a strong and super-efficient Business Development administrator who will keep your calendar busy.
The role you will play is crucial in growing our DataOrbis standard solutions as well as identifying and engaging with both existing and potential clients as well as data sources that we would like to unlock and onboard across our retail and distribution landscape. Experience in FMCG, retail, software and sales is essential. You may from time to time be pulled into bespoke and customised solutions by the Growth and Innovation department, where originality and innovation is required.
You will be responsible for driving business growth as a business development manager by identifying new opportunities, developing strong client relationships, and closing deals that generate revenue for the Category Management Division. You will be expected to conduct market studies and analyses, generate new leads, prepare, and present convincing proposals and presentations, negotiate contracts and agreements, and manage client relationships.
- Grow the division’s revenue and profit
- Conduct market studies and analyses to identify potential business opportunities
- Generate new leads and identify potential clients through networking, cross-divisional, and cross-company collaboration
- Prepare and deliver proposals and presentations that showcase the company’s capabilities and value proposition.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients to secure new business.
- Keep up to date with new developments and changes within the industry and adapt business development strategies accordingly.
Your skills and experience include
Matric/A level qualification with a suitable Tertiary Degree/Diploma or Relevant Certification in a Commerce or Marketing related field. Professional experience in business development or sales with a proven track record of closing deals and achieving revenue targets. Experience within the FMCG and Consumer Goods advantageous.
